Santa hat brownie (in 5 mins)

Brownies come in a variety of forms. They are either fudgy or cakey, depending on their density. This one really is more for those of you who prefer “fudgy” brownies to “cakey” ones.

Ingredients /for 1 mug/

  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder /original, no sugar/
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 tablespoons spring water
  • pinch of salt

      Mascarpone Buttercream /for 1 brownie/

  • 1/4 tablespoons unsalted butter /room temperature/
  • 1/2 tablespoons mascarpone cheese /room temperature/
  • 3-4 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • pinch of vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

And a big strawberry 🙂

  1. Dry ingredients: Add the sugar, flour, cocoa, and salt to the mug and mix.
  2. Wet ingredients: Then add the oil and water and mix the dry and wet ingredients together. Be sure to be thorough, there’s a tendency for clumps of the dry ingredients to form.
  3. Microwave on high for roughly a minute (800W = 1:50). You may have to microwave it longer or shorter, depending on your microwave, but the brownie should still be wet in the center when done.
  4. To assemble, pipe a ring of vanilla buttercream on top of your brownie.  Cut off the base of a strawberry so it is flat and place it upside down on each brownie, pushing slightly to secure in place.  Top the tip of the strawberry with a dot of buttercream to finish the santa hat.
